Get Your Digestive Relief Here! Your New “Go To” Source For a Happy Belly

Gas? Bloating? Belching? Heartburn? Constipation? Diarrhea? An occasional bout with any of these is not unusual, but not fun. And, if any of these are chronic, it is likely a good idea to address these issues.

I have to ask all of my patients about their digestive issues and bowel movements all the time, so I’m kinda used to it. I think it’s important to pay attention to these symptoms as there is quite a lot going on in our digestive tract.

Stress & diet are certainly two BIG areas to address when thinking about or assessing your gut. I will go out on a limb here and channel Captain Obvious, but try to keep your stress levels to a minimum.

Think about how you’re managing your stress. Are you irritated easily? Are you bottling up anger? Are you frustrated often? Begin to simply observe these conditions, and then become aware of the triggers that are setting you off.

Can you separate yourself from these triggers that are causing you stress? If not, can you take a breath before reacting to them, or can you take some downtime daily to journal, breathe, meditate, exercise or walk through them? Begin a plan to manage your stress. I have a lot more to say about stress, and stress management, but I will address that in a later post.

Now, what are you feeding yourself. As we are all unique individuals, it’s hard for me to say what may be causing you to have digestive issues, but it is REALLY important to work on healing your gut.

You may consider an elimination diet. This diet can be extreme for many people, but essentially you cut out all the culprits that are causing inflammation in your tummy, and then slowly introduce one at a time. Or, you may cut out or minimize one culprit at a time for a period of time and assess possible improvements.
