They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day – and for good reason. Eating a whole, healthy breakfast ensures that you’re starting our your day right by activating your metabolism and regulating your blood sugar. By starting your day with a healthy breakfast, you won’t feel the need to mindlessly snack all day or binge at lunch or dinner, this is what often leads to unnecessary weight gain and mood swings too.
When thinking about your breakfast, break out of the cereal box and leave the boring old stand-bys behind. Try something that’s rich in protein and greens. I am particularly fond of oatmeal or amaranth with nuts or nut butter, sliced banana, a little raw agave nectar, and a dash of cinnamon. Cinnamon by the way helps regulate blood sugar and is a great anti-inflammatory. Another favorite of mine is scrambled eggs with kale, sautéed onion and mushrooms, and if you’re looking for an extra protein kick, some free-range chicken apple sausage.
