The Joys of Juicing

One of my favorite ways to start the day in the morning is with a tall glass of juice. But instead of just normal orange, apple, or cranberry, I go for the power-packed, delicious juices that I mix up myself! Now, I’m not knocking the traditional juices – they’re all delicious, and really good for you (as long as there’s no added sugar!). But the juices that I’m talking about have the power of multiple fruit and veggie sources and added vitamins and supplements. What’s NOT to love?

So, what are some of the benefits of juicing? Well, first off, as I mentioned above, it’s a huge source of a bunch of different nutrients in one go. Think of it as streamlining your vitamins and minerals. But it’s more than just the ingredients – our bodies absorb nutrients a lot more readily in liquid form than in solid, so drinking a juice gives your body the most concentrated forms of the nutrients possible.

But that’s not all you’ll be absorbing. Drinking juices provides a healthy dose of enzymes to help your metabolism move along and give you a refreshed, energized feeling. Fruits and veggies in juices also provide powerful antioxidants and phytochemicals, the substances found in plants that are considered one of the best tools for fighting off disease. So, you’re getting a metabolic boost, an energy boost, and an immune system boost all in one!

There’s a reason that people find so much success in doing juicing fasts – they are great detoxifiers. But even if you don’t go to that level, introducing juicing into your life could turn out to be one of the best things you do for your body. The list of benefits just goes on and on.

In my next blog post, I’ll share some of my favorite juice recipes, as well as tips for how to juice most effectively.

Stay tuned!
