The 5-Elements of Effective Detoxing – The Wood Element!

In case you have not yet figured it out, now you know, the first element we’re going to learn about is the wood element.

Yesterday, we discussed the generating cycle of the 5-elements in our body and environment. This laid the groundwork for understanding each of the elements and how they help with effective cleansing. In case you missed it, here is a link to that post. [Effective Cleansing with the 5-Elements]

Before we move on to the wood element though, there are a couple of more things to understand that are worth mentioning here.

Not only are our organs separated into elements, they are also separated into yin and yang organs. Each of the elements and appropriate organs we will learn about are yin organs. They are solid organs with extremely important functions that you will learn about.

However, each yin organ has a paired yang organ. The yang organs are very important when it comes to detoxing, because they are our hallow organs such as the large and small intestine. Therefore, they are responsible for the pathways in which our toxins are mobilized and excreted… Yay yang organs!

Moving on to the wood element. The wood element in Chinese medicine is directly related to our Liver organ. Our liver organ is one of the most important organs when it comes to cleansing. Our liver acts as a filter for which everything that enters our body is processed through. When your liver is not functioning properly, it then becomes obvious that toxic waste can easily build up.

The liver can get congested from many things including: environmental toxins, processed and/or gmo’d foods, stress and even toxic thoughts and emotions.

Spring is the season that is ruled by the Wood Element. The Wood Element symbolizes our bodies’ need to be flexible, yet strong, like wood. The spring season is the time to focus on liver health, as we prepare to emerge from months of semi-hibernation and move into an active time of the year.

Spring liver cleansing is a part of restoring vitality in medical practices all around the world.

A good liver cleanse can bring about changes such as increased energy, weight loss, or the spontaneous healing and relief of a chronic symptom. You may even obtain a sense of clarity and stress relief.

In the next couple of days we will move on to the next element in the cycle… Can you remember what the wood element generates?

Until then,

Be well, eat well and love well
