5 Keys to a Successful Detox/Cleanse

If the holidays left you feeling a little sluggish or perhaps a little heavier, don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Most people I’ve spoken to, including myself, have definitely indulged, or should I say overindulged in rich food, sweets and pastries, and of course alcohol. Unfortunately, this has also left most of us feeling a little toxic.

Many clients and friends have asked me about how to recover from the holidays and jump-start their weight loss and new healthy habits.

Without a doubt, beginning with a cleanse program is the best way to meet these kind of goals. Doing a detox/cleanse has many benefits. Some benefits include: increased energy, jump-start on weight loss, and perhaps even losing those holiday pounds you may have gained, and clearer, more focused thinking.

With all of this in mind, I’ve decided to put together a special post to help you create and have a successful cleanse. Also, at the end of this post, you will see a very special offer for my 21-day body and mind cleanse that is beginning Wednesday, January 26th.

Key #1 – Be prepared.

Being prepared for your cleanse is really essential to your success. First and foremost, get the support of your family and friends. Let them know that you will be doing a cleanse and would love them to be supportive of your goals.

You may also want to clear your calendar. During your 3-week cleanse, try to minimize the amount of social engagements that might compromise your success. If you must attend a social event, there are ways to make the most of them.

Having a “pre-detox” plan is also important; I will definitely be covering this in my upcoming program.

Key#2 – Drink plenty of filtered water.

Now, this might seem obvious, but so many of us have the best intentions to consume 8 – 10 glasses of water per day but often get too busy and forget. When you’re doing a cleanse, it is vital that you get your water in as it helps facilitate the movement of toxins out of the body, just like a river pulling debris down stream.

Key #3 – Daily or twice-daily bowel movements.

That’s right, I said it. It is really important that you are having one or two complete bowel movements a day. As you cleanse, the toxins gather and have to be excreted. If you’re like many female women in this country, you are not always accomplishing this.

If you are not, try to definitely include about 2 tablespoons of freshly ground flax seed per day and perhaps adding additional magnesium to your diet. If you need even more assistance, Smooth Move tea is tasty and quite effective.

Key #4 – Exercise & Sweating.

Getting exercise and sweating are certainly going to enhance your cleansing and detoxing efforts. However, you don’t necessarily have to sweat from exercise. Appropriate exercise during your detox can be activities like yoga or brisk walking.

Ideally, sweating might come from the use of a sauna, if possible. Our skin is our largest organ and will excrete most of our toxins through our sweat.

Key #5 – Group support.

Studies have shown that with the support of a friend, or even several new “cleanse friends”, you will have the most successful outcome. You will be able to share success stories, recipes, and even get a pep talk when it’s feeling a little hard or temptation is getting the better of you.

With these keys in mind, I would love to share a special offer with you about my upcoming 21-Day Group Cleanse. Our group is starting on Wednesday January 26th at 8:30 pm ET and 5:30 pm PT and you can be a part of the group from the comfort of your own home.
